Report Aims & Objectives

The aim of this report is to provide you with key information to:

  1. Assist you in the search and selection process of acquiring a recreational craft.

  2. Help develop an effective maintenance programme for your existing vessel.

  3. Provide pre-survey research for yacht surveyors.

  4. Assist Boat Builders and Boat Designers to identify specific areas for product improvement.

The objective of this report is to provide you with specific craft details and a summary of defects about this model of recreational craft based on the information currently in the BoatStats database.

The information in this report identifies all defects highlighted during professional boat surveys, provided by professional yacht surveyors. Note: this information is extracted from the surveys contained in the BoatStats database and therefore should not be considered as representative of this craft.

This report provides an ageing profile for the craft. With all manufactured products, the older they are, the more wear and tear there is likely to be. It should be noted that individual manufacturers may source components from a variety of suppliers that may suffer ageing at variable rates.

Degradation of a particular craft is largely dependant on the conditions of use and is subject to its care and maintenance. Certain conditions produce differing damage mechanisms e.g. fresh water vs. sea water.

Your BoatStats Report will help you to identify potential key factors for your consideration at initial craft inspection. This report should be used in conjunction with a professional yacht survey for insurance and finance purposes.

Assessment by Year of Manufacture

Numbers of survey reports in database for each year of manufacture

This graph shows how many surveys have been used to compile this report for each year of manufacture.  A high number of surveys indicate that the BoatStats database has a high number of survey reports relating to that year of manufacture.  Where no column is present, this indicates that the BoatStats database does not currently contain any data for that year of manufacture.

Boat Age when Defects Reported

It is significant for a boat owner or buyer to be able to predict the age profile of a particular boat.  This can help to indicate where an increase in corrective work, preventative maintenance or a refit may be required.  The following graph presents the information visually to assist in making an interpretation of a boat’s ageing profile.

The graph displays the number of defects reported (on the vertical y-axis) against the age of the boat when the defect was reported at the time of the survey (on the horizontal x-axis).  A peak in the curve indicates that boats of this age are likely to require a higher level of maintenance.  A trough indicates that boats of this age are likely to require a lower level of maintenance.

Number of Defects v Age of Boat

The information on the BoatStats Report can be used to extend the period of the curve by introducing an effective maintenance programme.

Recommendations

This report provides you with a range of real data relating to your selection from the database. You may find that your specific example of this model may not conform to the data in this report.

The BoatStats Reports do not account for running hours and usage conditions for the model of craft.  This report can be used in conjunction with, but not in place of, a full pre-purchase survey.  This report should not be used in isolation and does not replace the requirement for a professional yacht survey for insurance and finance purposes.

Important Note: All data presented by BoatStats is based upon a limited sample. All readers are recommended to conduct their own independent research into individual craft before making a purchase decision. CEProof (International) Ltd makes no guarantees about the accuracy of the data in the report and will not be held responsible for any decisions or actions undertaken by anyone as a result of data presented by BoatStats.
