Cargo Surveyors and Marine Consultants from around the world.

Consulting Marine Engineers and Ship Surveyors

The Society of
Consulting Marine Engineers & Ship Surveyors has been appointed as an
Authorised Certifying Authority by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency
(MCA) for statutory surveys of small commercial vessels, police vessels,
pilot boats and small workboats; and actively participates within the
various MCA working parties in their policy of delegation of statutory
surveys and certification.

Members of the YBDSA
provide essential services to both commercial boat operators and the
boating public, from helping with boat purchase, through registration,
to coding and certifying a vessel for commercial use. The members are
divided into two separate groups, the Association of Brokers and Yacht
Agents (ABYA) and the Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association (YDSA).
The YBDSA also operates the Professional Charter Association.

Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS)

The National
Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS) is a non-profit organization that
certifies marine surveyors and provides continuing education
opportunities. NAMS’ membership is international and, once certified,
its members carry the NAMS-Certified Marine Surveyor (NAMS-CMS)
designation after their names.

Society of
Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS)

SAMS® is intended to be
an organization of Professional Marine Surveyors who have come together
to promote the good image and general well being of their chosen
profession. Accredited Marine Surveyor members are surveyors who have
accumulated time in the profession, and have proven the technical skills
necessary for designation as AMS®. There is, through the Surveyor
Associate program, the opportunity for less experienced members to
participate in SAMS® and hone their skills under the tutelage of
Accredited Marine Surveyors in their local area.

UK Marine &
Coastguard Agency

This Agency is responsible throughout the UK for implementing the
Government’s maritime safety policy. That includes co-ordinating search
and rescue at sea through Her Majesty’s Coastguard, and checking that
ships meet UK and international safety rules. They work to prevent the
loss of lives at the coast and at sea, ensure that ships are safe, and
prevent coastal pollution Safer Lives, Safer Ships, Cleaner Seas.

& Yacht Council (ABYC)

The ABYC is a not-for-profit membership organization that has been
developing and updating the safety standards for boat building and
repair for over 50 years. ABYC is actively involved with the
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and is a leader in
education for the marine industry, as well as certification programs for
marine technicians.
ABYC's membership
includes boat builders, boat owners, surveyors, boat yards, insurance
companies, law firms, trade associations, marinas, dealerships,
government agencies, educational institutions and equipment and
accessory manufacturers.

Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA)

ICOMIA - the International Council of Marine Industry Associations - was
formed in 1965 to bring together in one global organisation all the
national boating federations and other bodies involved in the
recreational marine industry, and to represent them at international
level.
