Press Release
BoatStats Press release BoatStats Beta goes live! The Beta version of a Web site which gives the boat owning and boat buying public information on defects found during Boat surveys carried out by professional Yacht surveyors has gone live. Over the last nine months thousands of Boat surveys have been added to an analytical database to extract the defects on production boats manufactured in the last twenty five years. These defects are presented in a report which enables Boat owners and Boat buyers to view what defects show up on their boats with the passing of time. Marketing Director Nigel T Packer, an experienced yachtsman, said “The automotive industry has had this type of service for many years allowing car buyers to make decisions when purchasing a car” he added “By gathering data from MOT tests and insurance claims it is relatively straightforward to get a picture of the idiosyncrasies of a particular car you wish to purchase. In the boating world the only form of inspection is through a Yacht Survey, which is only carried out when the boat is being purchased”. Through a growing network of Yacht surveyors, archived surveys are arriving at the offices of CE Proof International, the owners of BoatStats.com, each day. These are being added to the database increasing the number of models available for analysis and to the boat owner and buyer. Currently there are thousands of defects analysed and available online at BoatStats.com. The search facility on the site is easy to use, searching either by manufacturer or by boat model type. Through a system of credits the report is paid for and delivered onscreen for the user to print off. The reports are free for the first two weeks whilst the site is in its Beta State, a fee of £2.99 will be charged for each report when the Alpha site is published on the first of June. “When you consider that the cost of a boat is likely to be the second largest expenditure made after buying a house it is important to have as much information as possible. The cost of a Boat survey can be considerable and whilst it is important to get a survey before buying, if you are viewing a number of boats, a simple table of ‘areas to pay attention’ will assist the boat buyer at a minimal cost” Nigel remarked. Yacht and Boat surveyors associations have expressed considerable interest in the site as a resource for their members and a number of Boat agents and Brokers are keen to see the site grow to use it themselves for information on pre owned boats they have in their portfolios. The full site will be launched later this month after user feedback has been evaluated. “We are very excited about this innovative resource and we have a number of developments on the horizon which will further enhance the web sites usefulness to its customers” Nigel concluded. END
